The movie follows J.B. Books, an aging gunfighter diagnosed with cancer who comes to Nevada at the turn of the 20th century to spend his last days looking for a way to die with a minimum of pain and a maximum of dignity.
The film is the biography of bandleader Glenn Miller from his beginnings through to his 1944 death when the airplane he was flying in was lost over the English Channel during World War II.
